Dr. Josef Maxwell "Max" Gutman is a native Long Islander who attended Williams College where he graduated magna cum laude. He then attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his medicine internship and neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center. He had additional fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis and neuroimmunology at the NYU Langone Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Center in Manhattan. Since that time Dr. Gutman has worked across Long Island as part of NYU Langone Health treating patients as part of the MS Center and general neurology outpatient service. Dr. Gutman serves as the Director of the NYU Long Island Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care Center and Director of Outpatient Neurology Services for NYU Langone--Long Island. He is a clinical assistant professor of neurology for the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and is involved in teaching students at the NYU Long Island School of Medicine as well as neuroimmunology fellows.
