This Past Year, the MS Community Lost a Power Couple
Lois & Harold Wolland
Lois & Harold

Lois and Harold were high school sweethearts and when Lois was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the prime of her life, Harold joined the fight with her.

Lois was the ultimate MS Warrior and Harold the ultimate caregiver.  Lois lived with MS for over 35 years while still being the most amazing mother, wife, and friend.  Lois continually amazed and inspired her family.  She never let her increasingly debilitating condition keep her from the things that were most important to her.  In order, those things were family, family and family.  Mother of four, and “Grammy Lo” to nine adoring grandkids, she somehow kept her sense of humor always, ensuring that darkness never ever turned to despair.  Their father Harold was by Lois’s side through all of it.  An eternal and committed optimist, Harold never gave up hope that things would be OK with Lois, that she would pull through every crisis no matter what her doctors told them.  And she did.  Over and over again, to the wonderment and relief of her tight circle of loved ones.

The Wolland Family

MS Hope for a Cure would not exist without Lois and Harold. EJ Levy, the founder of MS Hope, met their daughter Eden, the incredible Chair of MS Hope, at Walk MS NYC. Loving Lois and Team EJ were the top two Teams at the Walk for years and it just made sense for them to join forces.  Lois and Harold were the inspiration behind MS Hope for a Cure and their constant support and encouragement helped the organization raise over $11 million.

One can’t begin to quantify how many people living with MS have been touched and helped because of Lois and Harold.
